The Spirit of Utopia (1918-1923) is the best proof of the permanent oscillation (swing) of Ernst Bloch’s thought between an utopian metaphysics and an ontological thought of existence and being-in-the-world which is influenced by Kierkegaard and Heidegger. That’s a philosophy of «understanding-of-oneself-in-existence» and of «real-life experience» of the religious and moral «affects», of this thought of the «interiority of being» in Kierkegaard, which is also a leitmotiv of Bloch’s philosophy of the «encounter-with-oneself» (Selbstbegegnung)...
