On the basis of Hegel’s notes for a series of lectures on The Dialectics of Ethical and Ethical-Religious Communication the author investigates Kierkegaard’s strategy of indirect communication. He argues that ethical communication makes use of the aesthetic as its privileged form. In line with Kierkegaard’s own hesitations he shows how, as a consequence, ethical communication might destroy itself, resulting in a demonic relationship to the addressee of the communication.
